When you are looking for reliable web hosting, you want to look at four main factors.

1.  Is it reliable?  What is their uptime?  This is the percentage of time that your website can be accessed on the web.  If the network or server is down, then nobody can see your site.  How fast are there servers?  These days, almost everyone has DSL, Cable, Broadband, or some kind of high speed internet connections.  If your site takes 10 seconds to come up in a browser, people get impatient.  It reflects poorly on you.

2.  How’s their service?  Do they offer 24/7 support?  Do they have phone support, online instant chat, or an e-mail ticket system?  You don’t want a web hosting provider to have 9-5 M-F support hours.  When you have a problem, you need to be able to find help asap!

3.  What are the technical details?  How much disk storage do you get?  Disk storage is actually one of the least important things to consider.  Anything over 2 or 3 Gigabytes is plenty.  A lot of the reliable web hosting providers I found were offering 100 gig or more.  The transfer or bandwidth is also not as big of a deal as you might think.  The average website being hosted requires less than 2 gig of bandwidth per month.  Although I must say, it feels kind of nice not having to worry about going over your usage limits.
There are also things to consider like do they have a good control panel?  This is what you are going to be using to manage your website.  If you are not an expert in creating websites, you should go with a company that has a site builder.  They usually offer templates to start with to make it incredibly easy to create and update your website.  If you use a site builder, it requires a lot less uploading of files.  You should also verify if you can use an editor such as Dreamweaver or FrontPage to create or modify your website.

4.  What is the price?  I would be an idiot if I said price didn’t matter.  But you shouldn’t just look at the price to compare reliable web hosting providers.  Less is not always better, but you do want to get the most bang for your buck.  Once all things are equal; reliability, support, benefits, etc... then you can compare the price.

One thing to remember is if it comes down to a couple of bucks per month difference, and the more expensive plan meets your needs better than the cheaper one, get the plan that fits your needs.  It’s not worth sacrificing anything for a couple of bucks a month!  Think about it; how much did you spend on McDonald’s or Starbucks this week?  You don’t bat an eye dropping $3 on a cup of coffee or $5 on a value meal.  Why would you cringe over paying an extra $3 - $5 per month to get a reliable web hosting provider that meets your business needs?  Don’t sabotage your business just because you want to pay $7 per month instead of $10.  There are plenty of quality, reliable, web hosting providers that offer great plans between $5 and $15 per month.

If you’re new in the business and don’t know much about reliable web hosting, stay away from free web hosting providers.  They usually don’t give much support to their free customers.  It’s that whole you get what you pay for thing.  Also, they usually have ads across the top of the website.  This will put you competetors on your page.  I have never found a good enough reason to get free hosting as opposed to paying less than $10 per month for a reliable web hosting provider.

There are a few decent free providers, but you better already know what you’re doing.  If you’re new, or don’t know much about creating websites; you will be better off paying the $7 - $10 per month for a reliable web hosting provider.  The thing you should be concerned with is finding a reliable web hosting provider that has a good site builder and great phone or chat support.

Below are my reviews of affordable and reliable web hosting providers.

I have researched out dozens of reliable and affordable web hosting providers and have come up with a few that I can recommend.  My reviews of these affordable and reliable web hosting providers are based on the assumption that you are looking for what I have mentioned in the above article.  There are thousands of web hosting providers on the Internet for you to choose from.  Since it is impossible to know exactly what your needs are, this should at least help narrow the search.

Most of these plans I chose are not the basic or cheapest plan.  This is not to say that the basic plan won't suit your needs.  I just as a rule recommend the higher plan if it offers Unlimited Domains to be hosted on the same plan.  This will be a key component once you get going!

If you're trying to make money online, then you're probably going to be interested in multiple websites with separate domains.  This is beneficial for things like AdSense and Affiliate marketing.  It also has it's benefits for you're Search Engine Optimization efforts.  Everybody has different needs, but to me if it's a dollar or two a month more for unlimited domains, it's worth it.  I have provided a link or a banner to the web hosing provider's website, look at the different options and choose whichever plan suits your needs.

The Disk Space and Bandwidth are not the determining factors for me.  For example, the GoDaddy Economy Plan has 5gb of Disk Space and 250gb of Bandwidth.  This is more than adequate for most users.  The average website will use 2gb of Bandwidth in a month, so 5gb of Disk Space will actually be more than you will probably need.  In all actuality, it is the unlimited websites that makes the Deluxe plan worth the extra $3 per month.
